Valentine's Day Manicure #3 - Mollon Pro & Hearts

Hello ladies! Valentine's day manicures are going to go on for a while! Have you started looking for some presents? Today I have an in love version of the Mollon Dangerous Liasons (Review here). I stamped it with Cheeky 53 and Konad White Stamping Polish!

Hoe trago-vos uma manicure de S. Valentim com a Mollon. O verniz usado foi o Mollon Dangerous Liasons (Swatch  aqui). A nailat foi feita com a placa Cheeky CH53 e o verniz de carimbo Konad, em branco.

Valentine's Day Nailart #2 - Purple Professional


Hello lovelies! V-day is coming and the bloggosphere is already flodded with Vday Nails! I've seen so many great ideas!
This one is my 2nd for this year and was done with Purple Professional nail polishes from the Vintage Love Collection.

Hoje trago-vos a minha 2ª sugestão para o dia, com 2 cores Purple Professional, da colecção Vintage Love.

For this nailart I used Purple Professional Burning Passion and Purple Professional Its Still Love for the base colors and stamped with Cheeky CH 44. Several nailart polishes from MASH Stamping set and Konad. Top Coat - Purple 2 Dry.

#33DC - Day 26 - something from pinterest

 Hi guys, I'm back today with Day 26 of the #33DC and the prompt for today is something from pinterest/your inspiration board.  This was a tricky one for me, because up until a few weeks ago I didn't have one : D  I ended up choosing to do a (very) simplified version of this AMAZING mani by Robin Moses.  I'm gonna be honest here, and say I am so not happy with this mani.  If you want to know why then meet me after the jump!



My first problem was that I had to use an opaque base.  I have some really bad blue spotty staining at the moment, so naked nails or a sheer base was not an option.  This is the only nude I own at the moment, and it's gorgeous, but it just doesn't work with this design.  The second problem was that I think I over simplified it too much.  I was worried about my freehand not being good enough, but in hindsight, I probably could have managed something closer to the original.  The other thing that annoys me about this is that I don't like the french tip nails, and really wish I had done those ones like the index finger with the hearts.
All in all, I am putting this one down as a fail.  Maybe that's just because it's not really what I was going for, but I am determined to re-visit this mani when I've got rid of the stains on my nails, and do something closer to Robin's version.
In case you're wondering what polishes I used, the nude is Sally Hansen CSM - Bandage, the pink is Revlon Top Speed - Cupid, the lilac is Rimmel Lycra Pro - Ultra Violet, and the Black is Acrylic paint.  The fishnet design was stamped from Cheeky plate CH11 and Konad Special Polish - Black.  I freehanded everything else.  Hopefully I'll have better luck with Friday's mani : )

#33DC - Day 23 - Geometric

 Hi guys, sorry I didn't post anything yesterday.  I've got the flu and am feeling super crappy at the moment.  It's also why I didn't have it in me to re-do that middle finger with the crazy smudging.  This is my mani for Day 23 of the #33DC, and the prompt for today is Geometric.  This is another style of nail art I haven't dabbled much in, so I kept it simple and went for something I knew would work out.



I started with a base of Kate Spade by Nails Inc - New York Noir, which is one of 4 polishes that are free with Decembers issue of Glamour magazine, which is only £2.  I got all 4 shades, and a back up of this black.  It's a really nice formula, and is perfectly opaque in 2 coats.  I will be doing another haul post tomorrow so I'll show you the other 3 shades then.
Then I stamped this pattern from Cheeky image plate CH13 with Barry M Silver Foil, then mattified the whole thing.  I really liked this mani, it's a shame I ruined the middle finger. I've done Friday's mani already though, and I'm really pleased with how that turned out so I guess I'll get over it : D

#33DC - Day 22 - 3 colour gradient + pattern.

Hi guys, I'm back with Day 22 of the #33DC and the prompt for today is: 3 colour gradient + pattern. This is actually my second mani for this prompt.  My original idea ended up being way too summery : D  I don't mind though, in fact I'm actually quite pleased, I love the way these 3 colours work together so I guess all is well that ends well.



I started with a base of Revlon - Cupid that I got last week (can you tell I love this colour yet), and then sponged on my gradient with Rimmel Lycra Pro - Ultra Violet and Headline Colors Poolside Party.  I've wanted to pair lilac and aqua together in a mani since I saw the colours next to each other in my kitchen.  My washing powder was a lilac box, and my softener was a soft aqua colour : D
 When the gradient was dry, I stamped the image from Cheeky plate CH52 with Barry M Silver Foil.  I really love these colours together, and it always helps that all 3 of them have great formula's that are opaque in no more than 2 coats.  I always find gradients harder if there's a big difference in pigmentation between colours..
I apologise about the slightly sorry state of my cuticles in these pictures.  I gave them some TLC over the weekend though, and they're looking nicer now : )  Don't forget to check out all the other ladies participating in the challenge.  I'm sure their hands are looking a lot nicer too!

#33DC - Day 20 - A pattern from your wardrobe

 Hi guys, I'm back today with Day 20 of the #33DC, and the prompt for today is a pattern from your wardrobe.  This was one of the mani's I have had planned from the moment I read the prompt.  I had recently bought some awesome leopard print leggings, but they were a bit too tight for me so I haven't actually worn them yet......at least I get to rock them on my fingers for now : D


These are the leggings, I bought them from ebay here for £5, which is a bargain if you ask me!
This was a really easy mani to do, I just sponged on Laval - Ultra Violet, Barry M - Guava, and BYS - Pink Panic in random places over a white base, stamped the leopard print from Cheeky plate CH2, and mattified it all once dry to make it look more like fabric.
Obligatory shot with the actual leggings - sorry it's a little blurry, I had nothing to lean my camera arm on for this shot.
I'd love to hear what you guys think of this!  Do you prefer it as a mani, rather than on leggings, or do you think those leggings are badass? Don't worry about offending me - I know they're not for everyone : D

Fragrance Direct Friday (on Saturday)

 Hi guys, I'm back for another Fragrance Direct Friday (on Saturday) post, and since I've been bombarding you with swatches over the last couple of weeks from UK Indie Month, I figured I would do some nail art for this weeks FDF.


This gorgeous colour is Shade 12 from P.I.A.  I've never heard of this brand before, but as they're only £1.30 here, I chucked a couple in my basket to try out.  The other one I bought was Shade 31, which is a good dupe for Barry M - Rose Quartz Glitter, if a little smelly : )   This pinky shade doesn't smell though, so maybe it's just the glitters!  This is a great polish though, I'm wearing 2 easy coats here, (with no clean-up I might add!)  It dries to a semi-matte almost waxy finish, but I'm wearing a coat of top coat here.
I used this colour in my pinwheel base for yesterdays mani, and I loved the way it looked mattified with silver so I decided to stamp this cog design from Cheeky plate CH10 with Barry M Silver Foil, then mattify the whole thing.  This polish is pretty opaque at 1 coat, so I may have to try stamping with it at some point.  I think it might work over lighter colours at least!

#33DC - Day 16 - South America


Hi guys and girls.  I'm back today for Day 16 of the #33DC and the prompt for today is South America.  I was totally stumped on this prompt for ages, and I ended up asking the rest of the Crumpets Nail Tarts on facebook to help me out with inspiration.  I had so many great suggestions from loads of ladies which I'm truly grateful for, they were all amazing.  However, as is usually the way for me, I promptly had my own idea after asking for help!  I know you may all be wondering exactly how this mani is related to South America, and I promise I'll explain after the jump!




This mani is a tribute to some of my favourite Latin Metal bands.  It's a sub-genre of heavy metal with Latin origins, influences, and instrumentation.  They sometimes use Spanish lyrics, Latin percussion and salsa rhythms. I originally picked 5 bands, but I couldn't recreate all of their logos, so I had to narrow it down to 3.  The 3 I used are:

Soulfly

Ill Niño

The thumb and pinky are stamped with Cheeky plate CH31, and the logos I copied freehand with black acrylic paint.  This may not be as pretty as some of the other ideas, but I really like that this mani means something to me personally too.  Plus, I love the studded CC logo, and the Ill Nino symbol.  I wish my nails were a little longer, as my Soulfly logo is a bit squished at the bottom, but never mind!

#33DC - Day 15 - Animals

Hi guys and girls.  I'm back today for Day 15 of the #33DC and the prompt for today is animals.  I was planning to do something else originally, but I remembered I had these little dolphin glitter shapes that are just adorable, so I decided to use them instead. After all, who doesn't like dolphins?


For the base of this mani, I sponged on some Barry M - Guava, Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream and Headline Colours - Poolside Party in random places. although I went over it quite a few times, and it's so well blended I can hardly tell anymore.  I placed 2 of the holographic dolphin glitters on the accent nail, and sealed them with 3 coats of topcoat, then stamped the dolphin image from Cheeky plate CH38 on the rest of the nails with Barry M - Silver Foil.
This mani wasn't exactly challenging, but I love those dolphin glitters so much that I don't really care : D  Plus it had been a while since I stamped anything so I was itching to get back to it!

#33DC - Day 12 - Pattern from your home.

 Hi lovely people!  Welcome to Friday.  I'm back for Day 12 of the #33DC and the prompt for today is a pattern from your home.  I don't really have patterns in my home, but I knew as soon as I saw this prompt that I wanted to base my mani on my bedding.

This is my pillow, and I have the matching duvet cover too (duh!)  As you can see, I have done a skittle mani with this as one of the nails.  When me and the Mr went to Download Festival 2011, the guys camping next to us had a monochrome union jack and pirate flags flying from their tent, and we both liked the union jack, so when I spotted this duvet cover set it was a no-brainer.  Probably the most boring story in the world (unlike the festival which is awesome!), but it's where the idea for the pirate themed nails came from.
I started with a base of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure - Lavender Cloud, then freehanded the stripes on the pinky with black acrylic paint, and the flag with acrylic paint and NYC - Sidewalkers.  I've never painted a union jack before, and kind of expected to fail the first time at least, but that wasn't the case.  It's a bit wobbly here and there, but nonetheless I am pleased with how it came out.  The index and middle fingers were stamped with images from Cheeky plate CH49.
For the thumb nail, I painted the union jack as before, then when it was dry, I stamped an image from my new Born Pretty Store skulls stamping plate with Barry M Silver - Foil. I couldn't get it quite central, but I've only stamped once with something that wasn't a full nail image so that's something I need to practise.  When it was all dry, I had to go in with the NYC - Matte Me Crazy matte topcoat since it's based on fabrics.
As always, I'd love to know what you guys think of this....yay or nay?
