Recent Hauls

I've already posted individually about some of the polishes of these hauls, so it's about time to do this haul post...

So first of is my beautycosmetic.biz haul, that I've already told you about. Here's what I ordered from left to right: Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 110 and 117, Catrice Gold Leaf top coat and Rest In The Forest, Essence Nail Art Topper Mrs and Mr Glitter, Quick Dry top coat and Gel-look top coat. I already posted about GR Jolly Jewels number 110 and you can read the post here.
 
Also these Perfect holographic polishes came in the same order, from left to right H1, H3, H5, H6 and H7. I also already posted about these and you can read the post here. In that same post at the end I also have told my own experiences about the beautycosmetic.biz store, so if you're interested in that, take a look at that post.


Finally I also have done some more shopping in different places. I bought the OPI polish at the left from a local store on sale and that one is of course Steady As She Rose from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. Then the two next ones, Essie Muchi Muchi and Konad Top coat I bought from a Facebook nail polish group. Zoya Annie is from Ebay and well, I had to have it because of the name of course! Then last but not least are two a-england polishes that I bought from their previous sale and they are Princess Sabra and She Walks In Beauty.

I think from all of these I'm probably most excited about a-england She Walks In Beauty, because it looks so gorgeous in bottle and I've seen so many great manicures already done with it!

The Winter Holiday Challenge was created by Dimpal and her friend Lorna for the facebook group Crumpet's Nail Tarts. As you see below, there will be two challenges each week in December, but if I've understood it correctly the main goal is that we are having a good time doing nail art. So it's possible to post later than the deadline, and we can choose to not participate on all the themes. And that suites me, because I have ideas for some of the days, but not for all of them, and also I'm not sure if I'll get time to do all the nail art and make all the blog posts.




I am very new at stamping, so this didn't turn out exactly as planned, and I didn't have time to practice. The first thing I tried was to make a white gradient with a stamping plate. It was supposed to look like snow falling from the sky, but I had to take it all off, and start all over. I also wanted to take pictures outside, so I really struggled to get the mani ready before it became dark. And when I transferred the photos to my PC, I realized that half of the photos were taken a bit too late, and useless. Luckily I also took some photos before top coat that I could use. There were supposed to be holographic snowflakes on top of the white ones. I also tried to use the Glitter Gal holo as a top coat, but it covered too much of the stamping. That's why you don't see my pinkie very much. But although it's different from what it was supposed to look like, I like it.

 What I used:


IsaDora Clear (as base coat, and base coat before stamping)
Pieces: Blue Metallic (3 coats)
Konad Special Nail Polish: white
Seche Vite (top coat)

I tried to stamp with some holographic polishes on top of the white stamping, but it hardly showed. It might have worked over a darker base color..., but here is what I shouldn't have used:
GOSH: #549 Holographic Hero
Glitter Gal: 707H Silver 3D/ Holo
Color Club: 977 Cloud Nine

Stamping plates (that luckily arrived just in time):
HB: 23 (small snowflakes)
BM- 319 (1 small and 1 big snowflake)

A39 (3 big snowflakes)
BM- 318 (snowman)

This might seem like a lot of stamping plates, but no snowflakes are identical..., so yes, I need all of them! :-)

Sat- ART- Day Club: Hallowe'en


Hello everyone!



This is the first time I'm participating in a Sat- ART- Day Club Challenge. We get one theme every Saturday. For Hallowe'en I made this skittles mani, with a smiling ghost, a black cat glitter french, a mummy, dripping blood, and stripes of blood. You can see all the other participants Hallowe'en manicures at the bottom of the post.

I have seen a lot of Hallowe'en nails lately, and wanted to make my own versions, but the mummy is partly a copy of these mummys by My Nail Polish Online with eyes that I first saw on these mummys by My Simple Little Pleasures.

To make this mani I used a dotting tool, a tiny round brush, striping tape, N.Nail stamping plate B114 (from KKCenterHk), "eyes", and these nail polishes:

H&M: Red- 1 coat (from this summer 2012 mini bottle set)
OPI: My Boyfriend Scales Walls- 2 coats (white)
Konad: Black stamping polish (cat)
OPI: Lady in Black (ghost, black cat french, mummy)
ORLY: Rockets Red Glare (red glitter)
H&M: Red (blood)
OPI: Every Month is Oktoberfest (blood)

ORLY, H&M and OPI are not tested on animals :-), but I have not found KONAD on any list yet :-(  Please let me know if you have found KONAD on any animal organisation's cruelty- free list.

Hello everyone!

Hawaii reminds me of beautiful nature, lava, palm trees, big waves, surfing, flower necklaces, hula dancing, and a weather with sunshine and a constant pleasant temperature. I hope to go there some time. I only know Hawaii from TV and movies. The latest Hawaii movie I saw was The Descendants, where you see that although one lives in a nice place like Hawaii and looks like Clooney, one has problems like everyone else. And the pineapples on this stamping plate reminds me of Blue Hawaii! Lol! I wish I could have played in that Elvis movie. I would even have been glad to play his mother, like lucky Angela Lansbury.

I have stamped with black Konad stamping polish over my Sunset/ Fall gradient nails with Kleancolor Chunky Holo Candy, using a stamping plate with Hawaii images. I used stamping plate N.NAIL SPPMB26 from KKCenterHk. When I applied the top coat (L.A.Colors), I saw that the black stamped images became even more black.

This stamping plate has images of a coconut palm tree, Hawaii rose/ hibiscus (in the middle), other flowers, a pineapple, and the words "Hawaii" and "Aloha!".

I was going to write that the Hawaiian word Aloha means hello in English. But I googled it, and according to Wikipedia; Aloha in the Hawaiian language means affection, peace, compassion and mercy. Since the middle of the 19th century, it also has come to be used as an English greeting to say goodbye and hello. Currently, it is mostly used in the sense of "hello"

If you just want a tropical mani, and don't want the words to show, just don't put polish on that part of the stamping plate, or use a cotton swab/ Q-tips with nail polish remover to erase the word from the stamper.

I got the last two polishes I ordered in the mail yesterday :-), so I thought I might as well tell you what I bought, because I don't think I will buy more this month. And I've started using some of the polishes already. Let's take a closer look at what I bought:



Konad:

I actually ordered the Konad starter set and and the black and red stamping nail polish in August, but it took a very long time to get here. (I thought I would need it for the KKCenterHk stamping plates, but I just needed stamping polish.)

The set comes in a beautiful box with photos of advanced nail art and instructions. It includes a stamper and scraper, a stamping plate with flower images, and a mini bottle (5ml) of white stamping polish. I haven't started using it, but I've used the red and the black stamping polish (11ml). You can see the red used here and here. Stamping nail art is (as many of you know) a Konad invention. How does someone get those good ideas? I guess I would be rich if I knew...

Lindex:

Unknown brand: #11. This polish has no name on it, only the number, and it was in a display with no name. I bought it at Lindex, and I will update this post with the name of the manufacturer when they answer my mail.

I was very curious about this one, because it looks purple with teal or blue shimmer in the bottle, (and I expected it to be a dark cousin of RBL Scrangie,) but on the nail it looks blue. I have taken photos of it many weeks ago, but not had time to write the post.
Bottle size: 10ml.

I also bought these nail stickers that day at the mall, but in a another shop. And now I can't find them, so I had to use this photo.

I have shown you Gosh # 549 Holographic Hero, and used it as base color for my Black butterfly post. Bottle size: 8ml.
I managed to buy one more a few days later. I thought it was too late, but when I asked, the owner of the shop found it in a drawer! :-) :-) :-)

Kleancolor:

I know these bottles look big, but they are very small; 5ml. When I don't have a chance to see what a nail polish looks like, I prefer to order mini bottles. Especially if it is expensive. But this time I paid more for the shipping than for the set itself.

I didn't know that I am a girl "who knows her fashion statement is trendier than others" until I read Kleancolor's statement! :-)

These are jellys with small glitter, except for Chunky Holo Black, that has big holographic orange/green glitter. I have wanted CH Purple and CH Black since I saw them on a blog about a year ago. But when I got the set, I fell in love with Candy. I have been wearing it for days. It looks orange above, but it's actually more pink.

Linda Johansen Nail Candy: Razzle Dazzle

Linda Johansen is the new name on my Cruelty- free list! :-) Linda Johansen has started her own cosmetics company, and her line of nail polish is called Nail Candy. EDIT: I had written that Razzle Dazzle is a purple with holographic glitter, but I think it is better to describe it a scattered holographic. I have tested it on a nail wheel, and was surprised that the holo shows best in the shade. According to Neglelakkmani this discontinued shade is now back in stock because many asked for it. I have struggled to get this polish. Bottle size: 11 ml.

These bottles are huge; 18 ml!

This is my first big red glitter, and I really wanted bar glitter after having seen both this one and vintage bar glitter on blogs the last months. I have a bar glitter (H&M Purple Glaze) that I bought in August, but that glitter is so tiny that you barely see the different shapes of it.

Milky Way Glee

I'm not very good at Konads and stamping and all that stuff, so I thought I should practice my skills a bit and this is what I came up with:

I thought my mani was really cute, but I do have to say that konading isn't really my thing. I know it is an easy way to get more complex mani, but somehow I always manage to get a ton of mess and just average outcome. Also, because I don't do this often and I'm not very good at it, it takes quite some time to do a full mani and usually I have to redo at least one or two nails, because I'm not happy with the outcome and I really don't like redoing anything... I know I should just practice more and then I'd get better, but somehow I always end up choosing something else instead of stamping. Or maybe this just isn't for me?

Day 15: Delicate print - Depend 251

So it's again another day of the challenge and this time the task was delicate print nails. I'm not usually good with prints or anything like that and somehow I found this task a bit challenging. Well, that's the point of the challenge, right? Anywho, I decided to try some konading, thought I'm not very comfortable with it or anywhere near as good as some and I have only few plates, so there is not much of choice. But anyhow, here's my delicate print nails.

I chose the easy way out and did only one image from one plate to each nail and tried to even place it the same way. I know it can be a bit boring, but I quite like simple designs. I used Depend number 251 (two coats) and Konad white stamping polish for this mani. Hope it's delicate enough, lol. Well, tomorrows task is probably the hardest one, still don't know what to do with it.. So tune in to see if I come up with anything good.. :)
