Magic Goose - Dreaming of Snow

 Hi guys, today I have another gorgeous UK Indie polish to show you.  Magic Goose recently had a sale, and I was lucky enough to pick up 2 of the glitters from her Christmas range for just £4 each.  Even better, is the fact that they are not exclusively Christmassy, so you could easily wear them at any time of year.

This is Dreaming of Snow, which is a mix of purple hexes and short holo bars, aqua hexes in 3 sizes, and a few coppery-orange glitters sprinkled throughout.  This is 1 coat over Sinful Colors - Black on Black. I really like the colour combo in this polish, the coppery hexes aren't something I'd have ever thought of, but they really bring the other colours to life and make this polish very special.  I'm not usually keen on bar glitters either, but the ones in this polish are beautiful, and in real life they are superbly holo.
Out of the 3 polishes I ordered, this was a surprise favourite for me - I thought I'd like Wrap it Up the most, but this took my breath away!  I'm really glad I managed to snag this before it was discontinued.

Winterberry Nail Art: Part 3

 Hi guys, this post was actually supposed to be up last night, but I didn't get a chance to type it up in the end, so I will be double posting today instead.  This first post is another item from Winterberry Nail Art - the 3D gunmetal skull charms. 



The base for this mani is a polish I have had in my stash for ages, but never really use - L'Oreal Jet-Set - Boogie, and the skulls image is from MoYou London - Biker 10, stamped with Barry M Silver Foil.
The glitter is 2 coats of Gunmetal Glitter by La Femme Beauty, and this is the first time I have actually worn this.  I'm really impressed with this glitter, for such a cheap polish, the tiny details are awesome.  Check out the macro shot below, those tiny green specks are in fact, itsy bitsy little bars!
I got very excited when I noticed that, I didn't even know they made bar glitter that small! I think it's bloody adorable :)
This charm has a fairly flat back, but is not hollow like the leopard charm was, so you have a larger area to put the glue on.  I did this mani late at night, and whilst I did use nail glue this time, I think I may have been a little impatient, and stuck it on before the polish was completely dry as it did come off in the morning.  I glued it straight back on though, and it held up fine throughout the rest of the day.  It's probably worth mentioning that I do have quite small and curved nails, so a lot of this charm was not actually touching the nail to begin with.  If your nails are wider or flatter than mine, or even if you were to use it on your thumb, you would probably have a little less trouble than me.
I think you guys already know, but I adored this mani.  How could I not - it's black polish, glitter and skulls.  Doesn't get much better in my opinion! 
I'd love to know what you guys think though, I know it's not every body's cup of tea, but how about those tiny green bars?  Did they make you go 'awwwww'?

Indy's Indies - Tinsel

Hi guys, I'm back today with one more Christmas polish from Indy's Indies to show you.  This is Tinsel, which is a mix of short red bar glitter, and gold and silver holo longer bar glitters.  I know that there are a number of people with a disliking for bar glitters (personally I don't feel too strongly either way), but I really like this for a festive mani.  It looks just like tinsel, and the holo from the gold and silver bars is pretty impressive, so there will be a little video clip at the end so you guys can see it!

For these swatches, I used a base of A-England - Perceval on all fingers except the ring finger, which is Nails Inc - New York Noir.  I used 1 coat of Tinsel, with a little bit of dabbing and pushing to get the bars to spread out nicely. I don't have much experience with bar glitters, but I didn't find it to be too much of a hassle.  I added 1 coat of Gelous under my top coat to make sure everything was smoothed out nicely.
 I ended up liking this polish more than I expected to, and my mum likes it too.  In fact, I get a feeling that this is going to be her festive mani of choice over Christmas :)

Nail Polish Canada's 2013 HOLIDAY NAIL ART CHALLENGE WEEK 2 - DECORATIONS

Tinsel & Christmas Ornaments


Hello everyone!



My new e-mail from Nail Polish Canada explained that: "This week's nail art challenge is DECORATIONS. Lights, trees, tinsel whatever your favorite holiday decorations are." My favourite Christmas decoration is a palm tree decorated with lights, but that was too difficult for me, so I tried to make tinsel and Christmas ornaments.

What I did:

I started with the dark green sparkly textured nail polish; IsaDora #112 Emerald Crush, that I bought in October. It's opaque in two coats. This is what it looks like on it's own:




For the tinsel I used a silver holographic bar/ string glitter; IsaDora #861 Shanghai, that I bought on Friday. I put a little on my palette, not to get too much clear polish, and applied the glitter with a brush, and later a doting tool. Then I sealed the stripe of glitter with the clear polish. For my Christmas nails, tinsel is enough, but for the competition, I added a little more.





For the Christmas ornaments, I tried to make 3D circular shapes. This was not easy, so I had to do some clean up. They were made with one layer of Seche Vite, one with silver nail polish (only in the beginning), multipurpose glue, and finally I used a Q- tip to apply the holographic nail foil.
