Essie Neon 2013 Collection Swatches and Review

Like I promised yesterday, I have the Essie Neon Collection 2013 swatches for you guys today!

First I want to state couple general things about the polishes and the way I swatched them. I also got along with this whole collection Essie Blanc from L'Oreal Finland to use under these polishes. The instruction suggest that you use one coat of Essie Blanc (or some other white polish) under these neons to make the colors pop and that's what I did with my swatches. So I have base coat, one coat of Essie Blanc then two or three coats of the polish and then a quick drying top coat in all of these pics. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri as my top coat with these to make them shine as they are neons and they dry a bit matte on their own.

I've also already said it, so you probably know that I'm not a big neon person. I didn't own too many neon polishes prior to these and these actually tripled the amount of my neon polishes... I've tried some before, but somehow I have always felt like neons don't suit me. I also just shortened my nails quite a bit and I really wanted to do the swatches of these on shorter nails as I feel that neons look better on shorter nails, at least to me. But ok, let's go to the polishes, shall we..?

So first of is Boom Boom Room, a bright bubblegum pink. This one had surprisingly a really nice formula and it was pretty good with just one coat. I did two coats just to be safe. I'm not the biggest fan of bubblegum pinks and I won't probably be using these alone, because I just feel like it doens't suit me. But the formula was so nice for a pink like this that I think I will have still use for this polish.

The next one is Bottle Service, a really bright fuchsia. I did two coats and it went on quite easily. This is more like my type of color and I'll definately wear this one again. It's very summery!

This vivid blue is called Bouncer, It's Me and I used two coats here. I have say that I really loved this color and it went on effortlessly! I have read that some people have struggled with this but I didn't have any problems whatsoever. I guess it might have something to do with the fact that we have wider brushes here in Finland in our Essie polishes and that brush makes the applying so much easier.

Next is DJ Play That Song, a red toned birght purple and again I did two coats. This was a bit on the thick side, but nothing too major and again, the wide brush made it quite easy to apply.

Then this really bright orange is called Saturday Disco Fever and again I have two coats here. I really love bright orange polishes and this isn't really an exception, it's really gorgeous! It was also a bit on the thick side but again, nothing too major and it went on pretty easily.

Then the last one is Shake You $$ Maker, a bright green and I have three coats here. This was the only problematic one for me of all these polishes. This was quite thick but it didn't cover very well so I had to use three coats and the color is still a bit uneven. Also, the three thick coats made it bubble as you can probably see. However, the color itself wouldn't have been my favourite one anyhow, but I still wish that this would have had a better formula.

My favourites vere definately Bouncer, It's Me, Bottle Service and Saturday Disco Fever. These are available right now and they are also coming to the stores here in Finland!

Which one was your favourite?

*The polishes were sent for me to review, for more information see my disclosure policy.

Olá meninas & Meninos !!

* * *
For those who don't know what I am talking about (Follow me through Facebook to know a lot more!) I am making an Indie Guide A-Z! This will be a huge project and a enormous pleasure to do! So .. what am I going to do? Everyday, I'm going to show you a different brand of Indie Nail Polishes (and some of their major stockists too!! )
* * *

Your Name: Nastassia

Brand Name: Ooh La Lacquer

Where are you from? Los Angeles, California

When have you started? Summer 2012

Is there a story behind the name of your brand? Coming up with the name of my brand was the hardest part ever! I came up with dozens of names that got axed because they were either too corny, didn't make sense, or I wasn't in love with it. Then one day my sister picked up one of my polishes, said "Oooh La La", a lightbulb went on over my head, & I jazzed it up to "Ooh La Lacquer".

How many polishes/collections have you created? I've created 2 collection and a total of 15 polishes.

Is there a special polish/collection? Why? The Collection that's most special to me is my Dangerous in Matte Collection. The polishes consists of fine, matte glitters and what makes these polishes special are the names. Each polish is named after one my favorite songs and I replaced one of the words with matte. For example, I Kissed a Matte is named from I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry.

Where you a polish addicted before starting making polishes? Yes! My first nail polish related memory is on my 13th birthday when I got my first set of acrylics and I started buying cheap, $2 polishes. I didn't know much about big brands I just wanted all the colors of the rainbow. Then two years ago when Katy Perry released her collection I went crazy. In two years my collection grew from 40 to 560!

Did you have a blog before making polishes or have you started one after? Yes, once I began to realize I had a problem I started to blogging to keep track of my craziness. I mostly blog about my hauls, deals I've found, swatches, and my poor attempts at nail art.

Whats your favorite thing about making polishes? I love everything about making polishes. From the trial & error stage to the naming them. My most favorite part is when an idea in my head is interpreted precisely in the bottle.

Can you tell us a curious thing that has happened to you with some client or something funny? My customers are amazing! They're sweet messages and kind feedback make me strive to create more beautiful polishes in the future. I sincerely appreciate them all.

Essie Neon 2013 Collection

I got Essie neon 2013 collection for review from L'Oreal Finland and I thought I would show you quickly some bottle shots forst and I'll have the swatches of these for you later. You might have already seen these in some international blogs, but these just came to the stores here in Finland, so that's why I got them now.

Like the spring collection, I got this one also in the cutest box ever!

From left to right these are: Bouncer, It's Me, Bottle Service, Shake Your $$ Maker, Boom Boom Room, Saturday Disco Fever and DJ Play That Song.

I have to tell you that I'm not really a neon person and I only had (I think) three or so neon polishes in my collection prior to these. I have had couple more but I always ended up not really liking them... We'll see how I will like these, at least I don't really have anything too similar in my stash.

I also did some single bottle shots:

So which one is your favourite?

*P* Pahlish [Indie Guide Project]

Hi Girls & Boys!
I'm so happy to be back with another Indie Brand !
Today I'm presenting you Shannon and Josh , the makers of Pahlish !

Olá meninas & Meninos !!
Estou super feliz por hoje vos trazer mais uma marca Indie !
Hoje Apresento-vos a Shannon e o Josh, os criadores da marca Pahlish  !!!!

For those who don't know what I am talking about (Follow me through Facebook to know a lot more!) * * *

Your Name: Shannon and Josh

Brand Name: Pahlish

Where are you from? We currently live in NE Arkansas

When have you started? We started our Etsy shop in March of 2012, but we'd been making our own polish for about 6-8 months before that

Is there a story behind the name of your brand? It's a play on my last name

How many polishes/collections have you created? We've done 4 major collections, and 15-20 standalone shades

Is there a special polish/collection? Why? My very favorite is probably our recent 12 Days of Christmas collection because it's so large and has so many different types of colors in it. I felt like we really had to flex our creative muscles on that one to do out-of-the-ordinary Christmas colors. But, the Portal collection is probably the closest to my heart, I got really into the story while I was playing both games and wanted to share that with our fan base.

Where you a polish addicted before starting making polishes? Ohhhh, yes. Josh was always knocking over bottles of polish on our desk and complaining about how much I had. He sings a very different tune now that nail polish pays the rent!

Did you have a blog before making polishes or have you started one after? Nope, I am way too busy and disorganized to keep up with a blog! I don't know how bloggers do it, to be honest.

Whats your favorite thing about making polishes? I love it when our customers give me feedback about the subject matter. It is so amazing to me when someone messages me and says that they love Portal or the song lyrics that we use for inspiration. I think it's that connection that it allows us to make with the consumer, it's really cool to me.

Can you tell us a curious thing that has happened to you with some client or something funny? My favorite moment while working with Pahlish was actually a glitter mishap we had. I had ordered some plastic vials of glitter and couldn't get them open. I asked Josh to help and when he finally pried it open the lid shot off and glitter went everywhere. He ended up covered in glitter, his hair was full of it. He just handed the vial back to me and didn't say a word.
