31DC13 Day 12: Stripes

Today is another day of the challenge and it's day twelve, so it's time for some stripes!

So I started these nails with one coat of base coat and then three coats of Zoya Charla. Then I taped my middle and ring fingers with striping tape and painted Essie Mind Your Mittens (or Parka Perfect, see this post) over those nails. Finally I placed some swarovski crystals on each nail to complete the look. I quite liked how these nails turned out, though those stripes weren't really too perfect...

I have gotten those swarovski crystals for review from Born Pretty Store. These are the first swarovski ones that I have used, before I have had only those cheap rhinestones. I have to say that there's really quite a difference between those two, especially when you put top coat over the crystals/rhinestones. Top coat doesn't really ruin these crystals in any way, they keep their shape and they are as shiny as before the top coat. That isn't really the case with rhinestones, or at least in my experience they seem to look better if you don't use top coat with them... And I usually don't use anything else than top coat to fix those on nail.


 
The swarovski ones are more expensive than those rhinestone ones, but if you remove them carefully, you can really use them again. The ones that I have here are the clear ones and these are approx. 2.7-2.9mm wide. I think I'll need to get some that are slightly smaller, because my nails are so curved that these were almost a bit too wide.

Tänään siis vuorossa haasteen 12. päivä ja tehtävänä oli saada aikaan jonkinlaisia raitoja. Lakkauksen aloitin yhdellä I Love Me -messuilta ostetulla Zoyalla, Charlalla, jonka jälkeen kynsiteippiä ja Essien Mind Your Mittensiä apuna käyttäen tein keskisormen ja nimettömän kynsiin nuo raidat. Loppusilaukseksi lisäsin joka kynteen vielä Born Pretty Storelta saatuja swarovski kristalleja. Kynsistä tuli ihan hauskan näköiset, vaikka onnistuinkin söhrimään noita raitoja hieman. Ainakin ne ovat ehkä tyylillisesti tällä hetkellä enemmän oman näköiset kuin nuo äklösöpöt kaksi vuotta sitten tehdyt raitakynnet.
