IsaDora Spring Ray Of Light Collection: Swatches and Review

I have those IsaDora Ray Of Light spring collection swatches to show you guys today! I have quite a lot of pictures, because these pretties were quite hard to capture and I still think they do look better in real life than in any pictures. But before I show you those pics, I want to say quickly couple things, so I don't have to repeat them with all the polishes.

I did three coats of each polish and all the swatches are without base or top coat. These are quite sheer ones, so even with three coats there was still some visible nail line, but as these are so light colored, that didn't really bother me. Also the nail line looks stronger in the pictures than what it really was, as in real life these polishes reflect the light so well that you couldn't see that nail line so much. These were all had really nice formula and that IsaDora wide brush makes it a breeze to apply the polish. But now I'll let the pictures do the talking!

Dragonfly - light green pastel that IsaDora says has a touch of lime green.






 Glorious - this would probably look really good with a darker or more tanned skin! IsaDora says this is a bit of champagne and peach in a mix, I'd say that sounds about right.




Halo - the white one with a neat little duochrome-ish touch. IsaDora says this is a soft shimmerling white.





Opaline - really sweet light pink pastel that IsaDora describes aptly as soft, light pink.





 Ray Of Light - the namesake of the collection, this one leans just slightly towards purple, and as IsaDora says it, this has luminous light purple pigments.




I also thought these might look nice layered over some other color. First I tried them over white, but they all basically look the same, really pretty but really similar. Over black they look like this:
From left to right these are Dragonfly, Halo, Glorious, Opaline and Ray Of Light. Here you can see maybe a bit better that at least three of the colors (Dragonfly, Halo and Ray Of Light) have a slight color shift.

It was really hard to choose a favourite from this collection as they really are quite similar. I'd say my favourites are probably Halo and Opaline, just because they suited my skintone the best and I loved that little color shift in Halo. These are all really great ones and you can't honestly go wrong which ever you choose from these. 

The bottom line is though that these are also so very similar, so you don't really need them all. The best way to choose is probably to pick the one or two that you think will suit your skintone the best. Also, I just want to remind you that the glow in these doesn't really translate to pictures, so you should definately go check these out in a store if you can!

Tänään esittelyssä IsaDoran keväisen Ray Of Light kokoelman kaikki viisi lakkaa. Kuvia otin todella runsaasti ja silti näiden kauneus ei jotenkin välity harmittavasti kuvista. Kaikkia lakkoja on kuvissa kolme kerrosta ilman alus- tai päällyslakkaa. Laadultaan lakat olivat todella hyviä ja IsaDoran leveä sivellin tekee lakan levittämisestä superhelppoa.

Omaa suosikkia näiden lakkojen joukosta oli hieman hankala valita, mutta sanoisin silti omiksi lemppareiksi Halon ja Opalinen. Ne molemmat sopivat omaan ihonsävyyni parhaiten ja tykkäsin kovasti myös Halon kevyestä duochromemaisuudesta. 

Lakat ovat sen verran samanlaisia, että kaikkia tuskin tarvitsee, eli kannattaa varmasti valita se sävy tai sävyt, jotka miellyttävät eniten ja sopivat parhaiten omaan ihon sävyyn. Kuten jo todettua, lakkojen hehku ei oikein kuvista välity, joten näitä kannattaa käydä ehdottomasti hypistelemässä jossakin paikan päällä. Ainakin Sokoksiin on jo IsaDoran kevätkokoelmat tulleet.

Essie Virgin Orchid with ILNP Sugar Blossom, Serum No 5 Fame and Water Decals

I made this manicure over month ago, but for some reason I haven't never posted it. I think it's about time to get this one out too, so here it comes.

I started this mani with three coats of Essie Virgin Orchid and then I topped that with one coat of I Love Nail Polish Sugar Blossom and one coat of Serum No 5 Fame. Finally I added some water decals on my ring and pinky nails.

I'm not really sure why I haven't posted this before... This isn't the most innovative manicure out there, but I still thought it was quite nice and simple mani. 

Though I'm not sure if those water decals were really the best idea. I think I might have liked the look more without them:
Essie Virgin Orhic is a bit of grandma type of color but I still liked the polish very much and I love that gold shimmer. ILNP Sugar Blossom is really amazing glitter topper! I only have the ultra mini bottle of this one though... I really wish I'd have the full size version. I'm not too sure if I like Serum No 5 Fame here or if it's even in general right topper for me.

Tämä manikyyri on pyörinyt postattavien joukossa jo pitkän aikaa, mutta jostain syystä en vain ole saanut tätä postattua. Ei tässä tietysti mitään ihmeellistä ole ja tämä oli lähinnä osastoa ihan kiva, mutta täytyyhän tämäkin nyt joskus saada julkaistua.

Käytin tähän siis Essien Virgin Orchid lakkaa, jonka päälle kerrostin yhdet kerrokset sekä I Love Nail Polish Sugar Blossomia että Serum No 5:n Famea. Lopuksi lisäsin vielä siirtokuvat nimettömiin ja etusormiin. En tiedä oliko nuo siirtokuvat tähän nyt kaikista paras idea, sillä tykkäsin yhdistelmästä ehkä enemmän ilman niitä.

Essien Virgin Orchid on hieman sellainen mummomaisen värinen, mutta silti todella kaunis lakka kultaisine shimmereineen. ILNP:n Sugar Blossom on todella nätti glitteri topperi, harmittaa hieman, että minulla on siitä vain tuo superpieni pullo. Serum No 5 ei tässä lakkauksessa sykähdyttänyt mitenkään erityisesti enkä tiedä onko se muutenkaan niin kovin mieleeni.

Christmas Tree Manicure

Hi guys! I have the last post for you before Christmas and of course I'm showing you a Christmas manicure, eventhough this isn't the one I'm wearing for this Christmas as I already did this like a week ago.

So I used a Seventeen polish that I got from our meeting (it was sponsored by beautycosmetic.biz) as the white base color, then I topped that with KBShimmer I Only Have Ice For You. Then I placed some water decals on my other nails and I did some Christmas trees for my ring finger nails with Zoya Chita and some striping tape. And then finally I added a blue round glitter (from Adenina) to the tree tops.

I quite liked this mani and especially those accent nails with the trees. The water decals were some really bad quality ones from ebay and they kinda ruined the mani a bit. But still, this was a quite fun Christmas mani look!


I really liked the combo of white base and I Only Have Ice For You on top, so I wanted to share couple of pictures of that look too:

31DC13 Day 15: Delicate Print

Hi guys, I'm continuing with the challenge! It's day 15 and so the task was to do some delicate print. This was a bit hard task for me as the obvious choice for this day would probably be some stamping, but since I don't do that so well and I also already did that two years ago for this day, I wanted to do something else. So I went with some water decals, which was pretty much (again) the easiest way, but lately I have bought and also gotten quite few water decals, so I kinda have to use them...

I started this mani with three coats of OPI Mermaid's Tears. Then I used those white lace water decals for all but my ring finger nails. I also dabbed some I Love Nails Polish Teal Me Please and a-england Merlin on top of those decals and I topped my accent nails with OPI Pure 18K White Gold & Silver Top Coat. The decals are from Born Pretty Store, but I have bought them myself.

This was quite a simple mani, but I still liked it very much, though unfortunately for some reason the polishes in my middle finger nail bubbled quite a bit and I really hate when that happens!

Haaste jatkuu ja vuorossa siis päivä numero 15 ja herkkiskynnet. Tällä kertaa päätin toteuttaa kynnet water decalsien ja glittereiden avulla, kun viimeksi tätä päivää varten olin jo tehnyt (jonkinlaiset) leimailut, eikä tuo leimaaminen ole vieläkään oikein hallussa. Eli kynsien pohjavärinä käytin OPIn Mermaid's Tearsia, lakka on sen verran luirua ja huonosti tasoittuvaa, että jouduin pistämään sitä kolme kerrosta. Päälle lätkin pitsiset siirtokuvat, jotka olen ostanut Born Pretty Storesta, paitsi nimettömiin tein aksenttikynnet OPIn Purella (kun pitihän sitäkin päästä jo kokeilemaan!). Siirtokuvien päälle tuputtelin ihan vähän I Love Nail Polishin Teal Me Pleasea ja a-englandin Merliniä. Näistä tuli melko simppelit, mutta tykkäsin kynsistä silti kovin!  Tai ainakin enemmän kun noista kahden vuoden takaisista leimailuräpellyksistä, kun ei tuo leimailu tosiaankaan ole (edelleenkään) hallussa...

Kummat teitä miellyttää enemmän, nuo siirtokuvalliset kynnet vai kahden vuoden takaiset leimaukset?

Random Swatch Spam with a-england

My very awesome brother got some pictures out from my (still very) broken laptop that I had taken couple months ago (and of course I only had them stored there). I had done couple redo swatches of some older a-england polishes that I have already shown here in blog before and also one a-england polish that I have used several times already, but haven't shown you my swatches of it. So finally I can show them to you! a-england is one of my all time favourite brand and they have done some really awesome polishes lately too, but I feel like the older ones also deserve some attention, so here are four polishes of the very first a-england collection, The Mythicals.

First off is Galahd and I have two coats here, no base or top coat. This really has to be one of my all time favourite creme polishes if not the ultimate favourite one. The color is really awesome and the polish is so easy to work with! Really, if you don't own this already, get it, it's awesome!
 


The next one is Avalon which never really photographs like it should. It's the type of purple that looks too cold and blue every time you try to take a picture of it, so this is really more warm toned in real life. I have also two coats here, no base or top coat. The formula of this one is also great and the polish is really easy to work with.



This gorgeous light shimmer pink is of course Iseult and I have three coats here, no base or top coat. This one is probably the only one of my a-england collection where the formula isn't really that perfect. It's a bit sheer so you need three coats for full coverage, but the polish is also a bit thick. But then again, it's still quite easy to apply and the color is sooo pretty, that I don't really mind the formula issues too much. And also I should note that I only complain about the formula because I have used to the fact that a-england polishes are nearly perfect formulawise...
 


The last but not least is Merlin and I have two coats here over Iseult. I have already done swatches of Merlin alone, but this time I wanted to show you it over some other polish, because I feel like it works better that way. It is really an awesome silver glitter that is infact quite special as the glitters are a bit different from those that we usually see in these type of polishes.

31DC13 Day 01: Red Nails

I did the 31 Day Challenge first time pretty much two years ago and it was one of the most educational experiences to me when it comes to nail art and it also pushed me out of my comfort zone very efficiently. Lately I've been thinking about redoing the challenge, because first off it would be nice to see how (or if) my skills have improved but also because in the challege I made several nails that I have wanted to do again (like the half moons and the galaxies and such). Also, quite a few of people seem to have been doing the challenge again lately and I so I got the final push from seeing all the great manis people are doing and especially from Sannu who also started to do the challenge all over again just couple days ago. Sannu had this great idea about the challenge to include a picture of those nails that she did two years ago for the challenge to her new challenge posts and I'm going to borrow the awesome idea (hope it's ok with you Sannu?!) and always include one picture and a link to my first challenge nails.

So, this is going to be the first day of the challenge for me, but like first time, I'm not going to do this on daily basis and I will be probably doing some other posts in between the challenge posts, but hopefully I will finish this before Christmas! :D

Chalkboard Nails made some new images for the challenge, so I took this new glittery one from there. But here's a reminder how the challenge goes forward:


And as it is my first day, I have some red nails to show you!
It's the first day and I'm kind of bending the rules already as my nails aren't strickly red as the base color is more on the coral side.. Oh well, to me this counts as kind of red.. :D

I used first two coats of Inocos Maria Menina, then I added one coat of I Love Nail Polish Clown Business on top of that. Clown Business has blue, white and red (yay red for the challenge!) glitters in it and it's quite a fun and beautiful mix! I also do like the color of Maria Menina, it's coral, but it's not too light shade as light corals seem to look weird on me.

Essie Sand Tropez & Navigate Her with ILNP Glass Slipper and BPS Gemstones

This is the second post today and I have some nails to show you guys this time! You can find my first post here where I have some pictures of our little vacation to St. Petersburg, if you are interested. But like I said, I have some nails to show you guys as I have another Born Pretty Store product review. Along with the water decals and the diamond rhinestones that I have showed you already I chose some pretty gorgeous looking gemstones to try out. This is what I came up using the gemstones and some other things:


So I started with three coats of Esie Navigate Her on my ring finger nail and three coats of Essie Sand Tropez on others. Then I topped all the other nails with one coat of I Love Nail Polish Glass Slipper and placed two of those stones using clear top coat on my ring finger nail. I also used some beads chain for the nail, which is also from BPS, but I have bought it myself quite some time ago. (You can find it here, or at least something similar as I'm not totally sure if mine is that exact one as it says white and I'd say mine is silver, but I couldn't find silver one there anymore.) I used clear top coat also to fix the chain in place and I sealed it with a coat of top coat and that seemed to work out fine.

These gemstones are really pretty and I would have wanted to use some other ones too, but the thing is that they are just too big for me. My nails are quite curved so the only ones that I could fit on my nails were the smallest ones of the wheel. There were some really pretty ones in the wheel, I especially liked all those raindrop shaped ones, but they all were just way too big for me. Also these are not flat at all, so I'm not so sure how I could have handeled the bigger ones as I prefer my nail art and decorations to be flatter.

I have to say though that I really loved all the polishes that I used for this mani! Sand Tropez is really a perfect sandy nude and I just loved how it looked on me. Also ILNP Glass Slipper is a really beautiful mix of those quite subtle glitter and I love the combination! I think those irregular shaped silver pieces were really pretty too. Navigate Her is a really pretty green also, though I think I need to use it on all of my nails to decide if it's a color for me or not. 

 But like I said, these 'stones' were really pretty and they have some really interesting designs, so if you have bigger nails or flatter nails, these could fit you perfectly! On the other hand, if your nails are curved like mine or if they are small in general, I'm not really sure how you could use these as I wouldn't wand to use them in a way where the sides of the stones are not touching the nails. Also there are only three of each design in the wheel (except those smaller ones, there is five of them though at least in my wheel those two that I used were different colorwise than the three others), so the wheel is a bit expensive ($7.30) if you consider the amount you get. But then again, these seem like quality ones and you could do some really gorgeous designs with these.
