KBShimmer Winter 2013 Collection Swatches

Today I have my picks from the KBShimmer winter 2013 collection to share with you guys. KBShimmer is really one of my favourite brands and I thought this winter collection was pretty awesome. I ended up buying total of six polishes from the collection and I'm gonna show five of those to you today. I have quite a lot of pictures to share with you guys as these pretty polishes really deserve more than just one picture.

Green Hex and Glam is a green jelly with holographic hex glitter in various sizes. I just love love love KBShimmer I Got A Crush On Blue and since this is pretty much the green version of that same polish, I had high expectations for this one. Unfortunately, this didn't work for me in green like the blue one did. It's unquestionably a gorgeous polish and if you like green, I'm sure you'll love this one. I think I'm going to stick with my beloved blue one.

I used three coats here with base and top coat. This is a bit sheer because of the jelly base, but you can still easily build it up for full opacity. The formula was nice and easy to work with, though like with all large glitters, you'll need to fish a bit for those biggest ones.

I also wanted to see how Green Hex and Glam would look matte, so I applied a coat of matte top coat over it:
I prefer the shiny version, but it did look quite interesting matte too.

Maybe Navy is a shimmering navy blue. Those shimmer flakes shine also in purple and in some lights pink. This reminds me a bit of KBShimmer fall collection polish called Teal Another Tail as there's maybe something similar in these two and that subtle duochrome effect they have. This has a great formula, I used two easy coats here, no base or top coat.

Myth You Lots is a really interesting one as it is a holographic multichrome. Unfortunately I didn't have any sunlight available to really capture the holo effect, but you can still see it a bit here too. Just keep in mind that it really is much stronger in real life. The multichrome shifts between purple, blue, red and more. It's really one of those polishes that you have to see your self! I used three easy coats here, no base or top coat. This one can also be layered over black or some other colors, I think I'll need to try that out next.

Snow Flaking Way was one of the two polishes from this collection that first seemed impossible to get as it was always sold out immediately. I finally managed to get it and I'm really glad I did. I was a bit worried that this wouldn't work for me as my nails are quite curved and those snowflake glitters are quite big, but it worked just fine. I used three coats here with a coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food (to even out those flakes) and a coat of top coat. Those snowflakes are quite large ones, so you'll need to fish for them a bit, but there's plenty of them in the bottle, so it's not impossible to get them on your nails. It also helps to turn the bottle upside down for a while before applying the polish.

I'm a big fan of circle glitter, so Will Yule Marry Me? seemed like a really interesting and unique polish to me. It's a really dusty navy blue with silver and holographic hex and circle glitter. It dries a tad darker on nail than it is in the bottle. I wish this would have been more towards a blue navy than what it is, as to me it looks pretty much like a dark grey one instead of the navy. Also, I would have probably liked it more if it wouldn't dry as dark as it does. It's still a really pretty one, but it wasn't my favourite. The formula with this one was pretty nice though I struggled a bit to get those little bit bigger circle glitters on nail. I used two coats here, no base or top coat.
My favourites from these were Myth You Lots and Snow Flaking Way, but the other three are also quite interesting and unique polishes too. There are actually quite many more unique ones in the KBShimmer winter collection! However, like I said in the beginning of this post, I got six polishes from this collection and to me the real star of the collection is the oh-so-gorgeous topper I Only Have Ice For You. I have used that one for quite many manicures already, for example here and here.

Which one was your favourite polish from the entire collection?

If you live in the US you can pick these up at KBShimmer.com, if not, then you'll need to do as I do and buy yours from Harlow & Co. I have bought all these polishes myself and I don't gain anything if you use the links, their here just to help you guys.

Suosikeiksi viidestä tässä esitellystä nousivat Myth You Lots ja Snow Flaking Way. Tosin ehdoton suosikkini tästä talvikokoelmasta on upean kaunis topperi I Only Have Ice For You, jota olenkin käyttänyt jo useammassa lakkauksessa, esim. täällä ja täällä.

Mikä tämän talvikokoelman lakoista oli teidän suosikkinne?

KBShimmereitä voi tilata Harlow&Co:lta, josta itsekin omat KBShimmer lakkani aina hankin.

IsaDora Spring Ray Of Light Collection: Swatches and Review

I have those IsaDora Ray Of Light spring collection swatches to show you guys today! I have quite a lot of pictures, because these pretties were quite hard to capture and I still think they do look better in real life than in any pictures. But before I show you those pics, I want to say quickly couple things, so I don't have to repeat them with all the polishes.

I did three coats of each polish and all the swatches are without base or top coat. These are quite sheer ones, so even with three coats there was still some visible nail line, but as these are so light colored, that didn't really bother me. Also the nail line looks stronger in the pictures than what it really was, as in real life these polishes reflect the light so well that you couldn't see that nail line so much. These were all had really nice formula and that IsaDora wide brush makes it a breeze to apply the polish. But now I'll let the pictures do the talking!

Dragonfly - light green pastel that IsaDora says has a touch of lime green.

Glorious - this would probably look really good with a darker or more tanned skin! IsaDora says this is a bit of champagne and peach in a mix, I'd say that sounds about right.

Halo - the white one with a neat little duochrome-ish touch. IsaDora says this is a soft shimmerling white.

Opaline - really sweet light pink pastel that IsaDora describes aptly as soft, light pink.

Ray Of Light - the namesake of the collection, this one leans just slightly towards purple, and as IsaDora says it, this has luminous light purple pigments.

I also thought these might look nice layered over some other color. First I tried them over white, but they all basically look the same, really pretty but really similar. Over black they look like this:
From left to right these are Dragonfly, Halo, Glorious, Opaline and Ray Of Light. Here you can see maybe a bit better that at least three of the colors (Dragonfly, Halo and Ray Of Light) have a slight color shift.

It was really hard to choose a favourite from this collection as they really are quite similar. I'd say my favourites are probably Halo and Opaline, just because they suited my skintone the best and I loved that little color shift in Halo. These are all really great ones and you can't honestly go wrong which ever you choose from these.

The bottom line is though that these are also so very similar, so you don't really need them all. The best way to choose is probably to pick the one or two that you think will suit your skintone the best. Also, I just want to remind you that the glow in these doesn't really translate to pictures, so you should definately go check these out in a store if you can!

*I have gotten these polishes for review. For more information see my disclosure policy.

Tänään esittelyssä IsaDoran keväisen Ray Of Light kokoelman kaikki viisi lakkaa.

Ainakin Sokoksiin on jo IsaDoran kevätkokoelmat tulleet.

*Lakat on saatu arvioitaviksi.

Polishinail Water Decals

One of the sponsors for our get-together was Polishinail Shop and they generously gave us all some discount codes. I used mine to buy some water decals as they have quite nice selection on those (I added the links to the decals just to help you guys, I don't gain anything if you use them). I got total of 10 sheets of different water decals (the code didn't really cover all these, so I paid some myself, but I just wanted them all...) and here's the first manicure I did with the decals:

I needed something light and colorful to cheer me up a bit as the weather has been so dark and gloomy, so I decided to do a gradient with Picture Polish Siren Song and Essie Sunday Funday. I also added some China Glaze Fairy Dust to make the mani sparkle a bit and then finally I added those water decals.

Those water decals were really good quality and I didn't have any problems with them. They came off easly from the sheet and they were still a bit movable on nail, but not too much and they weren't too thick or thin, so I'd say they were really nice ones!

Like I said, I ordered total of ten sheets of water decals and here's my whole order:

And here's the decals I used for this mani:

By the way, all these decals seem to be on sale right now at Polishinail Shop, only 1,08€ each!

Christmas Tree Manicure

Hi guys! I have the last post for you before Christmas and of course I'm showing you a Christmas manicure, eventhough this isn't the one I'm wearing for this Christmas as I already did this like a week ago.

So I used a Seventeen polish that I got from our meeting (it was sponsored by beautycosmetic.biz) as the white base color, then I topped that with KBShimmer I Only Have Ice For You. Then I placed some water decals on my other nails and I did some Christmas trees for my ring finger nails with Zoya Chita and some striping tape. And then finally I added a blue round glitter (from Adenina) to the tree tops.

I quite liked this mani and especially those accent nails with the trees. The water decals were some really bad quality ones from ebay and they kinda ruined the mani a bit. But still, this was a quite fun Christmas mani look!

I really liked the combo of white base and I Only Have Ice For You on top, so I wanted to share couple of pictures of that look too:

Merry Christmas to all my readers!
Hyvää joulua kaikille!

Happy Christmas To All

Hello lovelies! Welcome to another very simple mani idea for Christmas.

I've said it before but OPI The Spy Who Loved Me is perfect for Christmas manis. However, if you don't have this you can use a really any shimmery red or even just a plain creme red. I believe my go-to polish last year was Orly Star Spangled. It's a little bit of a darker red from what I remember, but is just as, if not more, shimmery!

So, super simple! Two coats of OPI The Spy Who Loved Me and three coats of my own polish, Spellbound Nails Happy Christmas To All as an accent nail.

This mani looks so much better in person because you can really see the sparkle and shift of the glitter and this does seem to trick the eye into thinking Happy Christmas To All really does look like a Christmas tree especially with that star at the top of my nail. I admit I started this mani with a different design in mind; a bit of a tape mani to create a tree shape on the accent nail with a carefully placed star glitter, but once the star came out of the bottle (without my permissions lol) and refused to budge it all came together so much better in my opinion!

I plan to have at least another one or two designs before Christmas so keep an eye out for those.

Until next time,
- Ashley
