Winterberry Nail Art Review - Part 1

*Some products in this post were discounted in exchange for review.
Hi guys, recently I was contacted by the lovely Rachel from Winterberry Nail Art, to see if I would like to review a few items from her Etsy store.  She stocks a range of nail art supplies including some really cool 3D charms, and one of my favourite things ever - circle glitter!  How could I say no.........

These are the things I chose, and the cute little box that they came in - as you can see, I opted for pots for most things, but you can get them in a bag for a little less if you already have pots at home.
Since I picked quite a few items, I will only be showing you the 2 circle glitters today.  I will do the rest in 2 or 3 more posts - that way you can see everything in action. (those blue-black rhinestones at the back are ah-maz-ing!)
So first up are the gorgeous pink holo circles.  The base for this mani is Sinful Colors - Black on Black, and the stamping polish is Color Club - Miss Bliss.  The butterflies were stamped from MoYou Pro Collection 09.  For the accent nail, I just added a coat of clear polish, and placed the glitters on the nail with a wax pencil.  I used 2 coats of Gelous under my SV to smooth it right out - I have a habit of picking at things otherwise.
It was really difficult to capture the intensity of the holo in a photo, but as you can see in this one, the face of the glitter is multifaceted, so it really twinkles in the light.
Then I did a different design with the silver ones.  This is actually the second time I have used the silver ones, I wore them on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, that was the mani I absent-mindedly doodled on with my Barry M Nail Art pen in the taxi ride home :p
The base for this mani was Revlon Scented - Bubble Gum, and as the name would suggest, it's a lot pinker in real life than it looks here.  The stupid yellow light bulb strikes again!  I will be showing you proper swatches of this when I have my daylight bulb.
The heart image was also stamped from MoYou Pro Collection 09, with Barry M - Silver Foil.  Again, I used 2 coats of Gelous and 1 coat of SV to smooth it all out.  The silver glitters did seem to like to stick together in the pot, so I did need to spend a minute or 2 separating them.  The pink ones didn't do that at all though, and it wasn't too much of a hassle :)
The shop is currently closed for the holiday's, but will be opening back up on 1st January.
ps. A pot of circle glitter, that will last for ages is only 85p - how cool is that?

*Rachel has kindly given me a discount code to share with you guys :)  Use the code PEPIPO15 at the checkout for 15% off all items, including sale items.

My first attempt at Stamping Decals

Hi guys, today I have some nail art to show you using a new technique for me.  I had a go at doing stamping decals last week, and while this is far from perfect I was still pretty happy with how it turned out.  It looked amazing from a normal distance, but as always, macro photos show every tiny flaw that isn't really visible in real life.

The rose stamp is from MoYou Mother Nature 05, and the roses were filled in with Revlon - Cupid, Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream, La Femme - Lilac Cream and Ice Blue Cream, Headline Colors - Poolside Party, and Barry M - Peach Melba.  I used Konad Black for the stamping, and Sally Hansen CSM - Lavender Cloud as a base.
The other 3 fingers are diagonal gradients (another first for me) of Revlon - Cupid, Rimmel Lycra Pro - Ultra Violet and La Femme - Ice Blue Cream.  The single butterflies are from MoYou Mother Nature 01, and the 3 on the thumb are from PUEEN39.  There are little flowers in this image too, but I removed them with a cotton bud before making the decals.  All of the butterflies were filled in with Poolside Party at the top and Blueberry Ice Cream at the bottom.
I found the full nail ones fairly easy to apply as I made the decals on my stamper.  That way the decal has a curve to it, making it fit around my nail very easily.  I have 3 normal stampers that I don't use, but I will be using them whenever I make decals now.  I almost did them on a plastic bag, but in hindsight it probably would of made it a lot harder, so I'm glad I didn't.  The smaller decals were actually harder to apply.  I kept touching the wet nail, and when I did get them in place, and applied my top coat a few of the edges starting curling up!  If you enlarge the pictures you will see it.  I had a little bit of smudging when colouring in the roses too, but I fully expected this to go really badly, so it wasn't as bad as I thought.  It was kind of fun though, so expect to see me trying this technique again at some point.
What do you guys think?  Do you do stamping decals or do you think it's too much hassle?

The Remembrance Duo - and a sale on Halloween polishes

Hey gals! I bring some really sad news. My family has recently lost a member. My bonus-dad (my dad in all but blood) passed suddenly on October 25th. He was so proud of me for making polish - such an odd thing for a big, gruff guy like him to proud of but he was always telling anyone who would listen that I actually make my own polish ... and sell it too! I wanted to honor the wonderful man he was and the broken hearts he left behind ... and I guess this is the only way I feel I can do that.

I also want you to know that I keep nothing from selling these polishes. ALL proceeds will go to my mom to help her pay bills and funeral costs.

Teal We Meet Again - Teal Holographic and Butterflies and Broken Hearts - Silver Holographic Butterflies, Black Broken Hearts, green glitter, and black and silver holographic micro-glitter

This is The Remembrance Duo. It includes Teal We Meet Again and Butterflies and Broken Hearts. As part of The Remembrance Duo is the only place you will ever be able to buy Teal We Meet Again. However, if you want just the glitter topper Butterflies and Broken Hearts can be about alone.

These polishes are being sold at a slightly increased price ($10 for the glitter topper and $20 for the duo).

Butterflies and Broken Hearts has a lot of meaning to me and my family. My mom taught me early her belief that butterflies are messengers of heaven and that every time you see a butterfly it is simply a loved one's way of waving hello from the great beyond. I couldn't create a memorial polish without including lots of silver holographic butterflies. The black hearts are of course the broken hearts he left us with. You'll also find tons of green (my bonus-dad's favorite color), as well as lots of holographic black and holographic silver glitter.

Teal We Meet Again is a gorgeous teal holographic polish that makes a stunning base for Butterflies and Broken Hearts. I really don't think you could find a more perfect pair.

On a side note, there are still a few polishes from the Halloween 2013 Collection left that can now be bought on sale.

Kleancolor Metallic Gradient

Hi everyone, hows your weekend been so far?  I've spent mine working, but I'm off from Wednesday this week : D   This is a mani I did about a week ago now.  I was actually supposed to be doing a tape mani for the 33day challenge, but this just kind of happened instead.  Does anyone else do that, plan a mani in your head, then pick up something completely different from your stash and just go with it?  Maybe it's just my mess of a brain, but I do that a lot!   Anyway the rest is after the jump, and just to warn you, this is quite a picture heavy post.

I started with a base of Kleancolor - Metallic Aqua, then I took Kleancolor - Metallic Pink, and made sure it was quite thin.  I sponged a really thin layer onto the nail from about halfway up, then a thicker layer on the tips, using a sponge eyeshadow applicator.  (I love doing gradients like this, much less clean up)  Then once that was dry, I stamped with PUEEN39 using Barry M Silver Foil.  I'm gonna need to get a back-up of this polish, I stamp with it all the time!
I'm really glad I just went with the flow on this one, I absolutely loved this mani, as you'll be able to tell when you see how many photos I'm sticking at the bottom!  I was having a bit of trouble with my stamper at first, which is why the thumbs a bit iffy, but I'm pretty sure I used the wrong bottle of acetone the last time I stamped.  I have one which is unaltered for stamping, and one that's mixed with glycerin and peppermint oil for using on my nails, so it left a sort of film on the stamper.  I really need to remember to stick labels on them : D  Anyway, here are the rest of the photos, and I'll be back tomorrow with my first ever tribal mani for the 33 day challenge. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
