Starry Skittlette

I have a skittlette manicure to show you guys today!

I started this manicure with two coats of OPI I Saw...U Saw...We Saw...Warsaw. I really hate the name of the polish, but other than that, this was a pretty good one. It covered nicely with two coats and it was pretty easy to apply.

After Warsaw I painted my middle finger nails and parts of my ring finger nails with OPI My Favorite Ornament. Then I placed the metallic stars using top coat to secure them.

The mani turned out nice, but somehow it wasn't my favourite one. I really can't say why I didn't like it as much as I thought as there's really nothing wrong with it... Oh well... I did like those stars however! I got them from Born Pretty Store to try out and mine are pattern K95. They are really flat, so you can cover them with just one coat of top coat and then they don't stick out pretty much at all. With two coats of top coat you can cover them entirely. Eventhough I managed to get some smudges with the first star that placed to my ring finger, these are really easy to use!

http://www.bornprettystore.com/The stars come in a little plastic bag, which isn't really too handy. I'd prefer somekind of can instead of the plastic bag, but other than that I don't really have any complaints about these. Mine are silver colored, but the other side is that copper like color. These are probably ment to be used the silver side up, but I don't see why they couldn't be used the other side up too, so you really get two colored stars in the one package.

Don't forget that you can get 10% off with my code MBL91 and BPS offers free worldwide shipping! I don't gain anything if you use my code, but BPS has promised that they will sponsor a giveaway here in my blog if ten people use the code.

*I have gotten the stars for review. For more information see my disclosure policy.

Esittelyssä tänään siis OPIn I Saw...U Saw...We Saw...Warsaw ja My Favorite Ornament -lakoilla ja Born Pretty Storen metallisilla tähdillä toteutettu skittlette.

*Tähdet on saatu arvioitaviksi Born Pretty Storesta.

31DC13 Day 23: Inspired by a movie

Today I'm finally going to continue the challenge! You know guys, I really struggled with today's task. I tried so hard to figure out what I wanted to do and I always came up empty. I do love good movies and I also watch movies quite often, but I just couldn't figure out even what movie I wanted to do. That's also the main reason it has taken me so long to continue this challenge... Finally I decided to just do this the easy and obvious way and then I managed to do at least something. The mani isn't no where near perfect and I pretty much got ruined, but I decided to post this anyhow as I really don't want to do this movie manicure again.

Yeah, like I said, the mani isn't too good, but it's something! Obviously I used Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast At Tiffany's as my inspiration. I started the mani with two coats of L'Oreal BB Perfect Pastel Coat, then I placed the water decals on my ring fingers. Then I painted the half moons with China Glaze For Audrey using some hole reinforcers to create the half moons and framed the decals on my ring finger nails with the same polish. Finally with the help of some top coat I applied small pieces from that plastic beads to each nails.

I thought this was nice and simple idea, but the beads didn't really want to work with me. It was so incredibly hard to somehow get them to that somewhat round shape on my ring fingers and I also seem to have too narrow nails for this. Also it would have probably been better idea to use some nail glue instead of top coat to secure those beads into place as with top coat they really went pretty much where they wanted to and they certainly didn't stay there where you put them. Those water decals are also some poor ebay quality and they were really thick but somehow still managed to get wrinkled...

At least the color of China Glaze For Audrey is as gorgeous as always and the color of the beads went really well together with the polish!
http://www.bornprettystore.com/
I have gotten the beads from Born Pretty Store for review and mine are color #2. These 100 cm of these in the one package, so there's really plenty to use for several manicures. I just have to ficure out some easier way to use these!

Don't forget that you can get 10% off with my code MBL91 and BPS offers free worldwide shipping! I don't gain anything if you use my code, but BPS has promised that they will sponsor a giveaway here in my blog if ten people use the code.

Here's what I used:
L'Oreal BB Perfect Pastel Coat (2 coats)
China Glaze For Audrey
Mereneid Top It All Top Coat
water decals
Reinforcements (for the half moons)
Wire cutters (to cut those beads)

My movie inspired mani wasn't that creative two years ago either:
But I think I still liked it more than that newer one. You can check out the full post about the mani here.

Do you guys have any movie in mind that would be great for nail art inspiration?

Tänään vihdoin jatkuu siis 31. päivän haaste. Haasteen jatkaminen on venynyt lähinnä siksi, että oli ihan uskomattoman vaikeata keksiä mitä tämän päivän kynsiksi tekisi! En millään keksinyt edes mitään elokuvaa, mistä haluaisin inspiroitua tekemään kynsiä, vaikka katselenkin aika paljon elokuvia... Lopulta päätin mennä sieltä missä aita on ainakin suhteellisen matala eli tehdä jotakin melko ilmiselvää.

Feathers with Essie Warm & Toasty Turtleneck and mail from Adenina

Adenina restocked and also got some new water decals recently and I got some of them to try out, so of course I had to do a manicure with them immediately. I've also wanted to use Essie Warm & Toasty Turtleneck for a manicure after swatching it as the color is so gorgeous, so I decided to do those both in the same mani.

I used two coats of Essie Warm & Toasty Turtleneck, then I placed one decal on every nail and finally I dapped on really lightly just a hint of Essie Sparkle On Top on top of the decals just to make those feathers sparkle a bit.

I think these feather decals are really perfect as they are so fluffy and delicate looking. They were also really easy to use and apply, so no complaints there! I haven't yet had the courage to try to paint any kind of feathers on my nails myself, so these are really easy way that you can use to achieve that similar look.

I'm still in love with Warm & Toasty Turtleneck too, it is really an awesome polish! To color is really gorgeous and it applies like a dream. You only need two easy coats and that's it! If you don't have this one already, you should really get it!

And here's what I used for this manicure:
KBShimmer Basic Training
Essie Warm & Toasty Turtleneck (2 coats)
Essie Sparkle On Top
Mereneid Top It All Top Coat
water decals

Here's the whole order I got from Adenina:
They provided me with a 10€ discount code, so I ordered some of those new water decals and I also wanted to give some of the foils a try, so I took three of those and a foil glue. The decals are Y007, C072, C069, K036, C066 and K036C. The foil sheets are numbers 4, 1 and 7. Of course the ten euros didn't cover this all, so I ended up paying some of these myself, but I really wanted them all!

Don't forget to participate in my Essie giveaway where you can win this gorgeous Warm & Toasty Turtleneck and all the other five polishes from Essie's winter collection!

*I have gotten the Adenina products and Essie Warm & Toasty Turleneck for review. For more information see my disclosure policy.

American Apparel Swatch Spam

I have a quick post for you guys today with some American Apparel swatches, a little comparsion and a quick mani with two of the polishes. But let's start with some swatches of some creme AA polishes.

Dance, two coats. Nice nude, though not the best color for my skintone.

Dynasty, two coats. Really pretty color, though not that unique.

L'Esprit, 1 coat. Yeah, this coveres really well and I only used one coat here, so the formula is really great! Nice color also, but again, not that unique.

Lopez Canyon, 2 coats. Gorgeous color, but stains the cuticles so you need to be careful when applying this.

Then I have two polishes from the Sheer line that I combined in one picture:
I have Manhattan Beach on my pinky and middle finger nails and Moonlight Beach on my ring and index finger nails. These are jelly ones, so they are quite sheer but with three coats they both covered quite well.

I also tried this quick french mani with these polishes, but this look didn't turn out as nice as I thought. They are so sheer that it was hard to apply them evenly on to the tip. Maybe these would work better in some gradient manicures or glitter sandwiches.

Last but not least I have one polish from the Metallic Line called Violet Panache. This one was quite sheer too so I used three coats here. It's a quite pretty color and the shimmer in it is gorgeous!

Violet Panache reminded me immediately of OPI Grape... Set... Match so I did a quick comparison with those two:
They are obviously not dupes as the base colors are quite different hue, but the shimmer in them is really similar. Both needed three coats for coverage, though the American Apparel one covered a bit better.

31DC13 Day 15: Delicate Print

Hi guys, I'm continuing with the challenge! It's day 15 and so the task was to do some delicate print. This was a bit hard task for me as the obvious choice for this day would probably be some stamping, but since I don't do that so well and I also already did that two years ago for this day, I wanted to do something else. So I went with some water decals, which was pretty much (again) the easiest way, but lately I have bought and also gotten quite few water decals, so I kinda have to use them...

I started this mani with three coats of OPI Mermaid's Tears. Then I used those white lace water decals for all but my ring finger nails. I also dabbed some I Love Nails Polish Teal Me Please and a-england Merlin on top of those decals and I topped my accent nails with OPI Pure 18K White Gold & Silver Top Coat. The decals are from Born Pretty Store, but I have bought them myself.

This was quite a simple mani, but I still liked it very much, though unfortunately for some reason the polishes in my middle finger nail bubbled quite a bit and I really hate when that happens!

I also took some pictures for you guys without those glitters on top, so that you can see the decals better:

Nail Tek Foundation II
OPI Mermaid's Tears 3 coats
OPI Pure 1 coat (ring finger)
water decals, ILNP Teal Me Please and a-england Merlin
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

Like I said, I did some stamping for this challenge two years ago:
My stamping skills aren't really too good, but I still managed to get something done, you can check out the full post here.

So tell me guys, did you prefer the water decals mani or the stamping mani?

*****

Siirtokuvien päälle tuputtelin ihan vähän I Love Nail Polishin Teal Me Pleasea ja a-englandin Merliniä.

31DC13 Day 8: Metallic Nails

I'm continuing the challenge and it's day eight and time for some metallic nails. I had this really simple idea of the nails in my head and so I just went with that. Sometimes the simplest ideas can turn out really great! Here's what I came up with:

I started with two coats of Zoya Wednesday, then for the metallic part I painted the tips with free hand using Tiia Vanhatapio/Seppälä nail polish called Fool's Gold and finally I did a stripe of OPI Silver Shatter to each nail. So the basic idea is pretty much the same that I have already used ones with these nails, this time I did it just with other colors. I haven't used any crackle polishes for long time, and I don't particularly enjoy using them over whole nail, but I do like the look you can get adding just a bit of that crackle to the mix.

You also probably noticed already that I have shortened my nails quite a bit. They had gotten quite long again and I had those kinds of things to do where you can't really have too long nails, so I chopped of quite a bit. My nails do grow quite fast, so I think they're gonna be longer in no time. But it's always fun to have them shorter for a while, though I prefer my own nails a tad longer than this.

I have used OPI Silver Shatte before, but this was the first time I tried out Zoya Wednesday and Tiia Vanhatapio/Seppälä Fool's Gold. I really loved Wednesday, the color is gorgeous and the formula was really great! I think there's still room for this one in my stash though I do have quite a few of colors like this already... but I just can't help myself! However, Fool's Gold didn't really do it for me, it was quite sheer, so I had to paint those tips twice to get at least some coverage and then it became quite a thick coat of polish. I think I'll have to find some better gold one and get rid of this...

I had really simple mani two years ago for this challenge too as I only wore a single polish:
